Résumé Le son de la harpe, l'un des plus anciens instruments de musique au monde, a toujours été associé à un son venu d'autres mondes et de sphères célestes, lui assurant depuis longtemps une place dans la liste des instruments utilisés pour interpréter la musique de Noël. Xavier de Maistre a sélectionné des pièces de différents domaines du répertoire allant des grandes oeuvres orchestrales aux célèbres chants de Noël, toutes arrangées pour la harpe solo. Il a enregistré et arrangé lui-même la célèbre Danse de la fée Dragée tirée de la suite Casse-Noisette de Pyotr Tchaïkovsky. On peut également entendre la Valse des Fleurs de Casse-Noisette dans une transcription pour harpe du jeune harpiste et compositeur russe Alexander Boldachev. Christmas Harp propose de magnifiques transcriptions et variations de concert des chants de Noël Jingle Bells, Carol of the Bells, O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree), Adeste fidelis, We three Kings of Orient are, It came upon the Midnight clear, Angels we have heard on High et O little Town of Bethlehem, ainsi qu'une transcription de l'Ave Maria de Franz Schubert. La plupart de ces arrangements et variations pour harpe sont écrits par Carlos Salzedo. Outre ces transcriptions, Xavier a également enregistré de courtes fantaisies de Salzedo basées sur des chants de Noël provençaux, catalans, basques et napolitains.
